Welcome to the first newsletter of 2026 and the penultimate of my Presidential year. As we head into final preparations for the BHS Annual Scientific Meeting, there is still a great deal of work to do.

This weekend we will welcome 28 hip surgeons from around the United Kingdom, nominated by their programme directors, to the Senior Trainees Forum, held this year in Exeter. This marks the fifth such event, which has become a real highlight of our calendar. This means over 100 future leaders have been through this programme; surgeons who we hope will lead this Society and UK orthopaedics in years to come. Next year’s Forum will be held by Professor Tim Board in Manchester and if you are keen to attend, please discuss this now with your TPD.
